Metadata++

The main bit of information that’s included in an image file is the image itself. You may not know this, but plenty of other information is included inside the file. Known as metadata, it covers things like the device that was used to capture the image, the image’s resolution and size, where the image was shot, and more. With the Metadata++ application you can view, edit, import/export, and remove the metadata that accompanies the image – for free, from a user friendly interface.

Metadata++ provides support for 32-bit as well as 64-bit version of Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. The setup wizard that helps you install Metadata++ lets you choose between two languages: English and French. It also lets you choose where to install the application: on your hard disk or on a portable USB drive.

This application’s interface is similar to Window Explorer. On the left hand side there’s a folder tree that you can use to find any folder you want. Once you’ve found a folder, the images & videos stored in that folder will be presented at the top on Metadata++’s interface. Select any image you want and its metadata will be displayed onscreen so you can easily go over it.

It must be mentioned here that Metadata++ provides support for image as well as video and audio files. It can handle JPG, PNG, TIFF, MP4, OGG, WAV, AVI, DIVX, and other media formats.

Using Metadata++ is a piece of cake. Find and select an image to view its metadata. Right click an image to bring up a context menu that lets you export, import, edit, or remove metadata. Better yet, you can use a hotkey to perform all these tasks. The hotkey to remove all metadata for example is Ctrl + Alt + A. Go to Setup -> Hotkey to view a list of all available hotkeys.

Thanks to Metadata++, you can easily access all the metadata that accompanies a media file: photo, song, or video. You’re not limited to viewing metadata, mind you. You can import it, export it, edit it, or remove it.
